The History of GoldStar Trust Company
GoldStar Trust Company started out as Colonial
Trust Company, which was incorporated on August 19th, 1989, in the
state of Arizona for the purpose of engaging in the business of
acting as a fiduciary. In early 2004, Colonial Trust Company
entered into purchase negotiations with Happy State Bank of Amarillo,
Texas. As negotiations were finalized for the sale of Colonial Trust
Company to Happy State Bank, Colonial's Wealth Management division was
sold in August, 2004, while the final purchase of Colonial Trust by
Happy State Bank occurred in August, 2004.
Upon the purchase, Colonial Trust Company became
GoldStar Trust Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Happy State Banc
Shares. It is regulated by the Texas Department of Banking and the FDIC.
GoldStar Trust Company serves as trustee and paying agent
for bonds that fund the construction of building for churches and non-profit
organizations. As trustee, GoldStar receives, holds, and disburses the bond
proceeds for the issuers of bonds in 38 states.
